Prerequisite: Provisional admission to the teacher preparation program or permission of division chair. Focuses on three major areas: the ability to recognize personal and societal dehumanizing biases including, but not limited to, sexism, racism, prejudice and discrimination; the ability to recognize the ways these biases may be reflected in instructional materials and processes; and the ability to translate this knowledge into attitudes and strategies which result in favorable experiences for all students. Gives education majors opportunity to interact with diverse school populations, especially those of other cultures. Twenty hours of field experience required. Fall semester.
